Residents of Crawford County Know What They Want. We're Ready to Deliver.

I came to Crawford County to listen to its residents. We’re aligned on many of the issues that matter most, and on why Kansas needs forward-thinking leadership.

That was the best part of the visit. What I heard from folks wasn’t complicated. It was clear, practical, and rooted in the everyday work of building a good life here in southeast Kansas.

You told me education has to open more doors, not fewer. That’s why I want the Treasurer’s office to do a far better job promoting Learning Quest, so more Crawford County families know it can help pay for college, trade school, and apprenticeships alike, without leaving kids stranded under mountains of college debt. The tool already exists. Too few families know it’s there.

You told me Main Street is where this economy lives. Small businesses are the backbone of towns like Girard and Pittsburg, and they deserve a state partner that puts capital within reach. Starting a business is hard. Growing one is harder. And too many never get the chance to scale. Through linked-deposit lending with your community banks and credit unions, the Treasurer can help lower the cost of borrowing for the businesses that hire your neighbors.

You told me Kansas needs steadier footing. That’s why I’ll work to establish a nonpartisan Kansas Economic Council, with real economists giving Kansans plain-language answers about where our economy stands and where it’s headed. Kansas is primed for economic development, and that growth lifts every community.

And you told me our seniors shouldn’t have to choose between their property taxes and the homes they’ve worked their whole lives for. Keeping them in those homes is worth fighting for, and I’ll be the strongest advocate for the relief that makes it possible.

Crawford County, thank you for the invitation, the honesty, and the welcome. I heard each and every one of you. I’m looking forward to coming back.
